2015 SCRRF Scrimmage
Southern California FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) teams are welcome to attend the Southern California Regional Robotics Forum (SCRRF) annual Scrimmage. It's a great chance to test your robots, give your drivers practice, meet other teams, and get help with any problems you might be having with your robot prior to the FRC Stop Build Day on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Rookie teams are highly encouraged to attend.

Why Should My Team Attend the Scrimmage?
The most important thing to do in preparing for competition is Practice. The really great teams have hours and hours of practice with their robot before they get to a Regional. The Scrimmage provides the opportunity to practice in a low pressure yet realistic environment.
Practice - driving your robot on a reasonably accurate field.
We will have a full-sized field that is made of wood rather than the metal of the official fields. Up to six robots will run at a time. When we have 4 or more robots that want to play, we will run a timed match. Otherwise teams can take turns running their robots on the field.
Practice - operating your robot connected to a Field Control System.
Connectivity issues can be difficult to diagnose. We will have Control System experts on hand to help resolve issues. This gives your team the opportunity to resolve issues before you get to the Regional.
Practice - working on your robot in an environment similar to the Pits at an event.
Working in a 10’x10’ space with just the tools you brought is different than working in your shop. Find out what you REALLY need. (NOTE: in general somebody will have whatever tool you forgot and let you borrow theirs, but do you really want to depend on that?)
Practice - getting your team organized for travel.
Provides an incentive to figure out the procedures you have to follow for permission slips, transportation, etc.
Practice - getting your robot inspected.
We will have Inspectors available to go over your robot and find potential issues. It is NOT necessary to pass inspection to play at the Scrimmage. But we highly recommend that all teams take advantage of the opportunity. Deficiencies will be a lot easier to fix at home after the Scrimmage than if they are suddenly discovered at your Regional. NOTE: Inspections at the Scrimmage are not official. You will still have to get inspected at your Regional.
Fun – It is fun to watch all of the other robots and to meet other teams.
Campus Tours – Student-led tours of the campus will start at various times throughout the day. Encourage your juniors and seniors to take one.
