The specific purposes for which this corporation is organized include, but are not limited to:

• Serving the public by offering fun, technology-based enrichment activities for youth and community outreach with a focus on robotics programs that are affordable and sustainable throughout Southern California.
• Partnering with Robotics Education & Competition Foundation to support regional events and the development of teams and volunteers.

Prior to December 1, 2013, Los Angeles Robotics consisted of three divisions:

• FIRST LEGO League (FLL)
• FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC)
• Southern California Regional Robotics Forum (SCRRF)

The FTC division was transferred to SMaRT Education on December 1, 2013.
The FLL division was transferred to Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles on May 1, 2014.
The Nelson Team Grants (NTG) division was added on March 16, 2017.
The FLL division transferred back to Los Angeles Robotics on May 1, 2020.
The FLL division was transferred to Southern California Robotics League (SCRL) on December 14, 2020.
The Southern California Regional Robotics Forum (SCRRF) division was disbanded and the remaining funds were transfered to the Nelson Team Grants (NTG) division on May 22, 2024.
