Other Event Specific Information

Open Practice – Practice rounds will last approximately 5 minutes and start with 15 seconds of autonomous operation. Teams can take their robot to the field anytime they are ready. They will wait in line until there is a spot on the field. At the end of a round, if there are no teams in line, those on the field can continue. If there are not enough teams in line to fill a whole round those teams that have been on the field longest will leave until there are enough spots for the newcomers. Departing teams may get right back in line if they wish. Teams that have not yet taken the field get a free trip to the front of the line.

Practice Competition – Rounds are fifteen seconds of Autonomous followed by 2 minutes of Teleoperated. Matches will be run like real matches. A match schedule will be issued approximately 10:30 am. The tournament will proceed per the FIRST Lunacy rules. We will schedule as many matches as possible but the number of rounds will vary depending on how many teams show up. We are looking for volunteer refs and other field personnel.

Robot Rules: Any robot that can connect with a trailer as described in the rules and has the 2009 Rover wheels as its only contact with the ground (except for sensor wheels as permitted in the official rule) can run in this event. The new NI control system is recommended, but the old IFI system is acceptable. So if you re-wheeled an old robot to practice with, you are welcome to bring it to this event. Official FIRST inspectors will be available to inspect your robot. While these inspections are not official, they will help identify problems while you still have an opportunity to fix them.

Cost

We are asking teams to contribute $50 towards the cost of the event, including building the field. Teams can have their entry fee waived by providing five 4’x8’ sheets of “regolith” or by providing 20 or more balls. “Gus” balls or other equivalent imitation balls are acceptable. To take advantage of this offer, teams must commit to delivering the material by 10am on Saturday, Feb 14th and leaving it until the end of competition on Sunday, Feb 15th. They must also sign up to do this by Monday, Feb 9.

Registration

Register at RobotEvents.com. Payment can be made by credit card at the end of the online registration or by check at the registration table at the event. Checks should be payable to SCRRF.
